About JustAMonad.com

Before I start ranting about myself, here is a photo of iconic McWay Falls located in Big Sur, California.

Alright, I assume that if you have clicked on “About” link you are here to know more about me.

I am Bharat Savani. I work as a Software Engineer at PayPal. I like to read and learn about programming in general. I have created YouTube channel too. Here is the link. Enjoy.

So you might ask, why justamonad.com?

Well, let me be frank. I am not good at naming stuff and hence came up with the name while shopping at mall. True story mate. Moving on, I needed a platform to pin down my thoughts on programming and that’s how justamonad.com fits in a picture; moreover, I have a zest to teach and program. For me justamonad.com is a labour of love and it is a great medium through which I can reach thousands of people and share my thoughts and opinions. I also like to play around with different APIs of JDK and third party libraries.

justamonad.com

  • is primarily aimed at programmers who has basic understanding of Java
  • values transparency
  • values feedback, which is encouraged and appreciated
  • has no intention to sell advertisements

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or feedback, good or bad. Thank you! You can mail me at mailto:justamonad@gmail.com. I will try my best to reply.

I firmly believe that thoughts on programming may vary from individual to individual but best practices do not. I use Object and Functional Programming constructs in programming and I personally believe that using this two constructs we can push abstraction to limit while reusing the code.

Apart from programming I like to read books and watch Netflix. Below are few books I would highly recommend to you.

  • Java 8 in Action: Lambdas, Streams, and functional-style programming – by Raoul-Gabriel Urma, Mario Fusco, Alan Mycroft
  • Java Concurrency in Practice – by Brian Goetz, Tim Peierls, Joshua Bloch, Joseph Bowbeer, David Holmes, Doug Lea
  • Functional Programming in Java: How functional techniques improve your Java programs – Pierre-Yves Saumont
  • Refactoring to Patterns – Joshua Kerievsky
  • Refactoring: Improving the Design of Existing Code – Martin Fowler
  • Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship – Robert C. Martin
  • Naked Statistics: Stripping the Dread from the Data – Charles Wheelan
  • Natural Wonders of the World – DK

  • 12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos – Jordan B. Peterson
